Minty XJR for your time - my current obsession. This would satisfy my horsepower cravings (370). What would you choose?

A motorcycle, anything with 1000CC and 4 cylinders will meet your requirements and make just about any car south of a P1/918/LaF it’s bitch.

Would have to buy used, but this.

A 600 will reorient your brain as to what is fast. A 1000+ is just nuts.

Keeping it 4 wheeled, probably a C5 vette. I'm sure there are some rough examples under 8k, then aftermarket.

I agree, this is why I sold my CBR1000 and got an SV650, still faster than modern supercars on the road, but it doesn’t want to kill me when I sneeze mid corner. Absolutely nobody needs a 1000cc and almost nobody can utilize the potential of one.
That said, the question was, “what’s the fastest you can go for under $8000" Answer: Literbike

Not necessarily what Id choose but a 95 Civic with a turbo’d B18 would be the fastest per dollar besides a motorcycle. And you could probly buy one for less than $4500.

This, this is how I die... and it will be glorious.

what decay said.
you want fast on a budget? literbikes. you can get a 09 R1 for under 7, and thats a bike that will do this:
0-250KM/h in 11 seconds

Z28 Camaro.

$4500 for something that can do 160+ out of the box. Spend the other $3500 on better wheels/tires, brake upgrade, and a nitrous kit for when you feel like hitting 200*
*Possibly dangerous on public roads.

I will go out riding this. It too, will be glorious.

I don’t see any airbags... or doors. What is this strange machine!?

I’d go C4 + track mods instead! These are cool though, despite what many people have to say about the styling. I find it hilariously nineties

6 second quarter mile!
![]() 08/04/2016 at 13:12 |

You can go 550-600 mph for around $80-200+ depending on where you want to travel.

It’s sort of like a road legal formula one car, but with twice the passenger capacity, Honda reliability, and 40 MPG...
![]() 08/04/2016 at 13:38 |

Only drawback to the C4 is the LT1. LS1 in the C5 and ‘99-up Camaros is much better.

labor alone on that is more than 8000, unless you can do a b18c5+turbo yourself. in which case, i bow to you sensei
![]() 08/04/2016 at 15:18 |

But if you buy it already swapped then its cheap-ish because nobody ever gets money invested back. I see no reason why paying someone to do it would consume 100+ hours of labor to install and tune.

You could easily pick up a high mileage c5 Z06 maybe even a base C6
